Plenty of sunshine as temperatures could hit 28 degrees in Ireland this weekend

The heat could even stick around long into next week.

Ireland is set for a few scorchers over the coming days as temperatures could reach as high as 28 degrees this weekend.

Speaking to JOE, Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather said it is currently looking like temperatures will widely go above 26 degrees this weekend, particularly on Saturday.

“[It] could hit 27 degrees and could even locally get as high as 28 degrees, with lots of sunshine,” O’Reilly said.

While perhaps not quite as hot as Saturday on account of some clouds “bubbling up” in some areas, Sunday will still be “very warm”.

Met Éireann has said temperatures will range from 23 to 27 degrees on Sunday for most of the country, aside from the north which will see highs of 19 to 22 degrees.

According to O’Reilly, the heat is set to stick around long into next week.

“It does look like now that it’s going to stay warm for Monday – still 26 degrees, maybe even 27 degrees on Monday – and also fine for Tuesday and warm again,” O’Reilly said.

“It could even hold on now for Wednesday and possibly Thursday. The heat does look like it’s going to last a bit longer but there’s a lot of uncertainty beyond Thursday.”

We love to see it.
