This podcast about Putin’s Russia is one of the greatest stories you’ll ever hear

Bill Browder in conversation with James O'Brien.

JOE

You might not have heard of Bill Browder, but once you listen to his story on the Unfiltered podcast you may never be able to get him out of your head.

It is a tale which takes us from the fall of the USSR to the allegations of collusion between Donald Trump’s and Russia. In the middle of it is a human tragedy that involves Browder and a young Russian tax lawyer caller Sergei Magnitsky, who died in a Russian prison at the age of 37, eight years ago this week on 16 November.

Browder was the guest on the latest episode of Unfiltered and he told James O’Brien his astonishing tale into the heart of darkness that is Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

Browder was once the best performing fund manager in the world, thanks to the opportunities he spotted in Russia as it moved from communism to capitalism.

But others had spotted it too. The story of Browder’s involvement with oligarchs, his one-time alliance with Vladimir Putin, who he thought was going to help him clean up Russia (spoiler alert: he wasn’t), and the campaign he continues to fight to this day in Sergei Magnitsky’s name are the basis for this astonishing episode.

If you want to understand how Vladimir Putin controls Russia and why Russia has become the central concern for many in western democracies today then what happened to Bill Browder is a good place to start.

If you want to listen to a chilling story about how one man tried to get out of Russia but found that, even if he was finished with Russia, Russia wasn’t finished with him, then don’t miss the latest episode of Unfiltered.

You can listen to Browder’s stunning story right here or watch it below. Trust us when we tell you that Bill Browder’s story will not leave you anytime soon.
