Absolutely awful.

Police in United Kingdom are investigating after a photographer of the body of late footballer Emiliano Sala was shared online this weekend.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We are aware that a picture reported to be of Mr Sala’s body has been shared on social media channels and are disgusted that somebody did this.”

He added: “It is clearly a very difficult time for Mr Sala’s family and they should not have to endure additional pain that this shameful act will undoubtedly cause.

“We are investigating this incident and are working together with a number of agencies to establish how the picture was taken and who is responsible.”

The Argentine footballer Sala was tragically killed in January when flying from his former club of Nantes to the city of Cardiff, just days after he had transferred between the two sides.

In the aftermath of the crash, Sala’s family and friends reported that the 28-year-old had been texting them from the plane, expressing worry over the condition of the vehicle.

The only other occupant of the plane was pilot David Ibbotson, whose body has not been found. It has been confirmed that Ibbotson was not licensed to carry fee-paying passengers and the plane was not registered for commercial flights

Sala’s body was recovered from the wreckage in the Channel on 8 February.
