Pope Francis has arrived in Ireland

He has set foot on Irish soil…

Pope Francis has landed in Ireland and will begin day one of his two day stint in the country.

He was greeted at Dublin Airport by Tánaiste Simon Coveney, his wife Ruth and their three daughters Beth, Jessica and Annalise, as well as a select few of clergy and others.

The Pope has left Dublin Airport for Áras an Uachtaráin, where he will meet President Michael D Higgins and plant a ceremonial oak tree before going to Dublin Castle to attend a function with authorities and civil society groups

He will then visit St Mary’s Pro Cathedral before a parade though Dublin city in the Pope mobile, followed by a visit to homeless services at the Capuchin Day Centre.

Pope Francis will then attend the Festival of Families event at Croke Park.
