Pope Ireland visit

A great boost for the west of Ireland…

Pope Francis will reportedly begin his visit to Ireland in Knock.

The Irish Independent report that he will fly into Ireland West Airport before visiting the shrine at Knock.

Organisers of his trip are said to be considering flying into Knock on Saturday 26 August, raising the possibility of a mass at the Marian Shrine.

It was announced earlier this year that the pope will take part in the ‘Festival of Families’ at Croke Park on Saturday, 25 August and will be the chief celebrant at Holy Mass in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, 26 August.

Huge crowds are expected to turn up for the events, with a figure of 650,000 mooted for attendance at the mass in Phoenix Park.

As of what’s confirmed at this moment, the World Meeting of Families will be the public’s chance to go and see the Pope while he is on these shores but in order to ensure that you can get attendance, all of the events of the World Meeting of Families require tickets and registration.

Some of these are free and others require a fee. You can register for the events below to ensure entry.
