An Post moves forward last date to guarantee delivery of Christmas presents and goods for online retailers

Just 5 more days for to guarantee delivery from large-scale online retailers.

An Post has advised large-scale Irish and international online retailers that due to record volumes of online shopping, it can only guarantee pre-Christmas delivery of e-commerce parcels received into its processing system by close of business on Monday next, 14 December.

A spokesperson for An Post said:

“We’re running a full capacity in recent week and we have a duty to ensure that our E-Commerce Retailers are fully aware of the impact of Christmas volumes on processing and delivery times during this Covid pandemic, so as to avoid disappointment for shippers and shoppers alike.  

“We prefer to be upfront so that these major online sellers can plan their operations and advise their customers accordingly.”

An Post will deliver more than 3 million parcels across Ireland this week, for the second week running and its system is at full capacity.

This deadline applies only to An Post’s bigger e-commerce retailers and shippers and not to ordinary customers posting parcels and packages.

The latest dates for those still apply including:

  • This Friday, 11 December for Christmas cards to the US,
  • Thus Saturday, 12 December for parcels,
  • Next Wednesday, 17 December  for cards to Europe excluding Great Britain
  • Next Thursday, 18 December for EU parcels
