The three most expensive street parking zones will also be extended.

The price of street parking is set to rise under a new Dublin City Council parking zone expansion plans.

The council has said that they’re committed to reviewing the Parking Control Bye-Laws in 2019.

In a report that is going before the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee on Wednesday this week, Dublin City Council want to increase the number of areas covered by the three most expensive street parking zones.

This means an expansion of the Yellow Zone (very high demand), the Red Zone (high demand) and the Green Zone (medium demand).

It is proposed to increase the charges in the Yellow Zone (Mon-Sat) to €3.20 per hour (from €2.90) and in the Red Zone to €2.70 (€2.40) per hour.

The expansion of the zones combined with the increase in charges means that some areas which are currently a Medium demand zone paying €1.60 per hour could jump into a Red Zone at a cost of €2.70 per hour.

It is recommended that the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee refer the Draft Dublin City Council Parking Control Bye-Laws 2019 to the City Council monthly meeting in February for approval to initiate a six weeks public consultation process.
