“Master of the barbecue, legend of banter.”

Prince Harry has released a statement following the recent passing of his grandfather, Prince Philip.

The Duke of Sussex described his grandfather as “a man of service, honour and great humour”.

He went on to say that whilst the Duke of Edinburgh will be remembered by the country as the longest reigning consort and a decorated serviceman, he will be remembered by Harry as “my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end”.

The Duke of Sussex also described Prince Philip as “a rock for Her Majesty The Queen” and that “he would say to us all, beer in hand, ‘Oh do get on with it!'”

He finished the statement by saying that the Duke of Edinburgh, who was 99 years old when he passed away, will be “sorely missed, but always remembered” and that his wife Meghan, son Archie and future great-granddaughter “will always hold a special place for you in our hearts”.

Harry is currently in the UK for the Duke’s funeral on Saturday, having flown over from his home in LA ahead of the service.
