Footage recorded by a local news crew shows a man saving a rabbit on Highway 1 in California while wildfires blazed by the roadside.
Witnesses said that the man in the video below, recorded by RMG News, pulled over after spotting a wild rabbit caught up in the flames on the side of the road.
He can subsequently be seen cradling the rabbit in his arms and is believed to have declined a request for an on-camera interview shortly afterwards.

A state of emergency was declared in Los Angeles on Wednesday as a result of fires that have led to mass evacuations and road closures and caused damage to numerous homes in the area.

The following mobile phone alert, meanwhile, was issued on Wednesday night, warning residents in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas to beware of strong winds creating extreme fire danger overnight.
