Bacon products issued recall due to being packaged in unapproved facility

Good to be aware of before the Saturday morning fry-up.

A variety of organic smoked pork products have been issued a recall due them being packaged in a facility which wasn’t previously approved by Health and Safety officials.

The products, which include a number of bacon and rashers, all bear a Real Meats or Duhallow Organic Label.

According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) the meat products were all packed in an “unapproved facility”, which was not subject to official inspections.

The recall was issued on Friday and applies to all batch codes and all best before dates.

The FSAI also recently issued a number of Closure Orders on fifteen Irish businesses during the month of July.

Reasons for closure varied from “live rats seen in the rear storage area” to “a foul smell in the potato chipping room.”
