And who DOESN’T love Reeling In The Years?

Steely Dan are a band famous for many songs, but perhaps most important on these shores is their big contribution to Irish culture: they’re the ones behind ‘Reelin’ In The Years’, the theme song for RTÉ’s beloved Reeling In The Years.

The band have announced a tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland for 2019, and will play in Dublin’s 3Arena on February 28 of next year.

The group also played in Ireland just last year, but before that it had been two decades since they’d whacked out that opening riff in the only country that truly appreciates it.

Just immerse yourself in that riff for a few minutes and think about 1981 in Ireland. Oh yeah. That’s the stuff.

The band will be joined on the tour by Steven Winwood, who also has a lot of classic songs — ‘Valerie’ for example, which was famously sampled by Eric Prydz for his song ‘Call On Me’.

Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday morning, September 7.
