REPORTS: Brussels bomb suspect Najim Laachraoui has been arrested

Paul Moore

UPDATE, 11.27am: Belgian media withdraw reports that bomb suspect Laachraoui has been arrested.

It’s believed that he’s also linked to last year’s massacre in Paris.

The ‘world’s most wanted man’ Najim Laachraoui has been arrested in Brussels and two of the suicide bombers that carried out the attacks in Brussels airport have also been identified as brothers Khalid and Brahim El Bakraou.

Laachraoui was identified in the Anderlecht district of the city and he was arrested earlier this morning  according to  Belgian newspaper DH. Laachraoui has evaded the authorities since returning from Syria earlier this last year.

Laachraoui is also a suspected Isil commander and an accomplice of Salah Abdeslam, both men were heavily involved in last November’s Paris terror attacks that killed 130 people. French media have reported that the DNA of Laachraoui has been found on “several explosive belts”.

34 people are reported to have died following the yesterdays attacks in Brussels and at least 198 are injured.
