Revised death toll makes Baghdad ISIS’ most deadly bombing ever

Carl Kinsella

This year’s Ramadan has been punctuated by several sickening ISIS attacks throughout the Islamic world.

Vicious attacks in Istanbul and Dhaka last week have been followed by a catastrophic bombing in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad that has left at least 222 dead, according to Washington Post Beirut bureau chief Liz Sly.

Sly further noted that this enormous death toll is the highest that has been rendered by an ISIS bombing. It is likely that the area was targeted due to its predominance of Shiite Muslims.

The attack was carried out in Baghdad’s densely populated Karrada shopping district, many of the dead are believed to be children.

The muted response to the attack from both punters and media alike has been noted by many on social media.
