The Top Gear star announced the news on social media.

Richard Hammond and his wife Mindy have announced their divorce after almost 23 years of marriage.

The 55-year-old television presenter took to X today to share a statement updating fans on his personal news.

“A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently,” wrote Hammond.

“Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.

“We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created. We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time.”

The couple have lived in the grade II listed Bollitree Castle in Herefordshire since 2008. It boasts six bedrooms, a swimming pool and 20 acres of land.

Their daughter Izzy, 24, still lives at the estate near Ross-on-Wye and works alongside her dad at his garage and filming podcasts.

The couple’s other daughter Willow, 22, lives separately in a rented home in Gloucestershire, according to The Sun.

Followers instantly flocked to the comments section to share their condolences, with many wishing the best to the pair.

“Sorry to hear. Hope you get your privacy,” one shared while a second echoed: “Sorry to hear that buddy. Best of luck.”

“Best of luck Richard and Mindy,” a third well-wisher stated before another added: “All the best to you both.”

Hammond found fame on BBC’s Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May during the early noughties.

After a much-publicised spat between Jeremy Clarkson and one of the show’s producers, the trio left the programme before going on to star in The Grand Tour in 2016.

While his wife spent much of their marriage out of the spotlight, Hammond recently announced his podcast that he co-hosts with eldest daughter Izzy, Who We Are Now, is set to release a new series this month.
