Man in his 70s dies following road traffic collision in Limerick

Very sad news.

A man has died following a fatal road traffic collision that took place in Limerick on Sunday evening, 18 September.

Gardaí attended the scene of the single-vehicle incident that occurred in Shanbally on the outskirts of Abbeyfeale on Sunday afternoon at approximately 6.10pm.

The collision took place on the R555 road between Abbeyfeale and Duagh in Kerry. The driver, who was aged in his 70s and the sole occupant of the car, was fatally injured during the collision.

Gardaí subsequently closed the R555 in order to carry out a technical examination. Local diversions have been put in place.

An appeal for witnesses has been issued. Any road users with video footage – including dash-cam – are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí personnel.
