The man was arrested on Saturday.

A 54-year-old Irish man was charged in Leeds Magistrate Court on Monday with two offences relating to attempting to engage in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl.

Kieran Creaven is alleged to have flown to Leeds to meet with a 13-year-old, but instead was confronted by a group who had created a fake online account by a group who identify as predator hunters.

He was charged by the court but will return to Ireland on bail under strict conditions and he is due back in court in Leeds on 18 December.

Creaven works as a senior producer with the sports department of RTÉ.

He was confronted by a group called Predator Exposure on Saturday in Leeds. They approached him and filmed the encounter, which was uploaded to their Facebook page.

In a statement, RTÉ said on Sunday that they have “been made aware of this matter which is being dealt with by Yorkshire police forces in the UK and no further comment will be made at this time.”
