They’re joined by another household Hollywood name.
Continuing on from their success as co-owners of newly-promoted League Two side Wrexham AFC, Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have jumped to motorsport for next venture.
It was announced this week that the duo were part of a €200 million stake in Alpine Formula One team. The 24% stake was sold on Monday to a consortium including Reynolds, McElhenney and fellow actor Michael B Jordan, as well as Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners.

The French racing team, who are fifth in this year’s F1 constructors’ championship, are primed for a Wrexham-style underdog story which make them the perfect team for Ryan and Rob to take over.
After taking over the north Wales club in 2020, who were then competing in the National League, the fifth tier of English football, the pair turned the fortunes of the struggling club around, documenting it along the way in a docuseries for Disney+.
This April, Wrexham secured promotion to League Two for the first time in 15 years. A second season will also be released by the streamer showing the events of their promotion success.

Formally known as Renault, Alpine rebranded in 2021 to promote the French car companies range of sports cars. Their current racers are Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
US investment firm RedBird is an investor in Fenway Sports Group, the owner of Premier League side Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox baseball team. The firm also has a controlling stake in French football club Toulouse and Italy’s AC Milan, buying the Serie A giants last August in a deal worth €1.2bn.
While there’s no word of a docu-series on the F1 team just yet, there’s a chance that Reynolds and McElhenney may show up in the extremely popular Netflix series Drive to Survive.
