They’ve to let people know their options.

Things could be about to get a lot clearer if you’ve been affected by the recent cancellation of Ryanair flights and routes.

The Civil Aviation Authority has ordered the airline to explain how they will re-route all the affected passengers and email all those affected by Wednesday to explain their options.

In a letter from CAA Chief Executive Andrew Haines, the CAA told Ryanair: “This issue is urgent, as passengers may already have been disadvantaged by taking a decision based on misleading information provided by Ryanair.”

The CAA gave Ryanair a 5pm deadline on September 29 to issue a press release with the following information for passengers:

  • Explaining how it will re-route passengers and the criteria that it will apply to re-route passengers on the airlines
  • Including a commitment to assist passengers who have chosen an option that was not suitable for them as a result of being misled by Ryanair
  • Including a statement that Ryanair will reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by passengers as a result of the cancellations

The CAA also want Ryanair to provide a clear statement at the top of the home page on their website referring to this press release and providing a link to it.

In the letter, the CAA stated that they wanted all of the above to be completed by 5pm on Friday, September 29.

Ryanair said that they reminded their customer service agents on Wednesday“of the refund and re-accommodation entitlements of customers in cases of flight cancellations”.

They  announced on Wednesday that 22 weekly flights in and out of Dublin Airport will be cancelled between November 2017 and March 2018 as a result of a reduction in the airline’s flying schedule.

Ryanair says that less than 400,000 customers are booked on flights between November 2017 and March 2018 and that the changes will affect less than one flight a day across Ryanair’s 200 airports over a five-month period.
