The offer applies until midnight tonight.

Ryanair has launched its first ever ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer of a free ticket for customers on 1,600 routes between now and 14 December.

Ryanair says the offer applies to Value Fare bookings with more than one passenger travelling on selected routes from tomorrow (25 September) to 14 December.

The offer is available on the Ryanair website and expires at midnight on Thursday (24 September). Terms and conditions apply.

Commenting on the offer, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Alejandra Ruiz, said: “For the first time in Ryanair history, we have a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer landing. Anyone would be crazy to miss it! Book today for travel from 25 September until 14 December 2020 across 1,600 routes and get a second ticket on the same flight for free.”

“Customers can book this unmissable deal to top holiday and city break destinations across Europe, bringing their family or close friends on a well-needed autumn/winter escape,” Ruiz added.

“To avail of these special offer customers must be quick and visit the Ryanair.com website to book their flights before midnight, tonight 24 September.”

Ryanair has been a very vocal critic of travel restrictions currently in place in Ireland in recent weeks and months.

Currently, given the impact of Covid-19 in Ireland and around the world, the government says that the “the safest thing to do is not to travel abroad”.

Travel to a very limited set of locations on the government ‘Green List’ is exempted from the general advice against non-essential travel overseas.

These locations currently have a ‘normal precautions’ (‘green’) security status rating. The request to restrict movements does not apply to individuals arriving into Ireland from these locations.

As of 21 September, these locations are:

  • Cyprus
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Poland

Members of the public should be aware that all of the countries above, with the exception of Germany and Poland, currently have quarantine requirements for arrivals from other jurisdictions, including Ireland.

Inclusion on the ‘Green List’ does not imply the absence of any restrictions on arrivals in those locations. Members of the public should be aware that countries continue to announce new restrictions on arrivals from abroad, including the requirement to quarantine on entry. This can include restrictions on arrivals from Ireland.

The Green List is likely to be shelved next month in favour of an EU-wide ‘traffic light’ plan, to which Taoiseach Micheál Martin has already indicated a willingness to adopt in Ireland.

The plan is expected to be finalised at the EU’s General Affairs Council in mid-October.

Under the plan, countries and regions would be given either a red, orange or green colour, representative of the incidence of Covid-19 in the area.

The ECDC will publish the maps outlining the colours of the regions, which will be updated each week.
