Another strike by Irish Ryanair pilots looks set to go ahead on Friday. As a result, 24 flights between Ireland and the UK are expected to be cancelled although nothing official has been confirmed yet.

The Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (Ialpa) – part of trade union Fórsa – recently released the following statement: “The Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA) branch of Fórsa gave notice that it intends to stage two further one-day pilot strikes in Ryanair commencing at 1am on Friday 20th July, and at 1am on Tuesday 24th July.”

It’s understood that Eddie Wilson, chief people officer at Ryanair, wrote to Fórsa to arrange a meeting for Tuesday morning but none of the Fórsa members are available to meet at that time.

As reported by The Irish Times, Bernard Harbor, Fórsa’s spokesman, has said: “We would need to some real progress or real engagement before we suspend our strike.”

The dispute is over base transfers, promotions, leave and various other issues.

Fórsa have said that they’re willing to suspend the strike but only if there was positive developments on a series of issues that they have raised with Ryanair.

Similar industrial action took place last Thursday.
