The cost of the course is being reduced by €24,500.

Ryanair has announced details of a new cadet programme for trainee pilots that will see the cost of the course reduced by €24,500 and participants paid a salary from their first day of base training.

Described as “revolutionary”, “industry leading” and “a first for low-cost airlines”, participants in the programme will be subject to a “five-year reducing bond” that will require them to commit to the airline for that period.

The existing course fee of €29,500 will be replaced by a one-off upfront payment of €5,000, while cadets will be paid from the first day of the training programme, which hadn’t previously been the case.

“Our new, sponsored cadet programme will offer cadets the opportunity to join Ryanair as an entry level cadet, with no training costs up front,” reads a post on the careers section of the Ryanair website.

“We understand that access to finance has become more difficult for cadets to obtain and we want to take away the financial burden of the cost of the cadet programme away from you.”
