Scam artists in Ireland are posing as suicide charity workers to con people out of money

This is absolutely disgusting to hear

Faith in humanity is disappearing…

Con artists are posing as workers from Pieta House in a bid to scam donors out of their hard earned cash.

Acting as charity workers, they are going door to door pretending to campaign for the suicide charity and have been fooling people since last year in this disgusting act.

Even though the matter has been reported to Gardaí, there has been six more reported cases.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Marie Peelo, fundraising and volunteer co-ordinator at Pieta House, has expressed her extreme disappointment and concern at the incidents.

“Obviously we have sympathy for the people that had been duped and concern for their security and vulnerability. We are also very upset that someone was taking advantage of the wonderful support we receive from the general public.”

Marie Peelo was also very keen to point out that they never collect donations from door to door and to be suspicious of any claiming to be them trying to do so.

“We would be concerned the charity’s activities are being use to target vulnerable people. We are advising the public that Pieta House does not carry out door to door collections.

“If someone wishes to fundraise on behalf of Pieta House, they must have our written permission.

“We are very grateful to the general public for bringing these bogus collectors to our attention and with their help, with increased awareness and with the help of An Garda Siochana, we can reduce the number of bogus collectors abusing our wonderful support.”

Hat-tip to the Irish Mirror.
