A 30-year-old man has been charged with assault and violent disorder.
Liverpool fan Sean Cox continues to recover following a traumatic brain injury sustained in an assault ahead of the Champions League semi-final tie between Liverpool and Roma on 24 April, 2018.
Sean’s wife Martina recently released a statement to the public noting that her husband was “continuing to make progress”.
Meanwhile, a match between Liverpool Legends and Republic of Ireland Legends will take place this April at the Aviva Stadium in order to help with the Dunboyne man’s medical bills.
On Friday, the Guardian reported that a 30-year-old man by the name of Simone Mastrelli was charged with assault and violent disorder in relation to the attack on Cox.
The Rome native had been extradited from Italy to England and was scheduled to appear at South Sefton magistrates court on Friday afternoon.
Mastrelli had previously been held on a European arrest warrant.
In October, 21-year-old Filippo Lombardi was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm.
At time of writing, the Support Sean fund has raised over €840,000 towards its €2 million goal.
