Man charged in connection with death of Sean McCarthy in Dublin

McCarthy’s body was found in an apartment in Drumcondra on Saturday (6 August).

A man has been charged on Thursday (11 August) in connection with the death of Sean McCarthy in Dublin.

McCarthy was reported missing last Tuesday (2 August), having been last seen in the Drumcondra area.

The body of the 28-year-old was found at an apartment on Achill Road in Drumcondra on Saturday, 6 August.

McCarthy’s body was removed from the scene on Sunday and taken to to Dublin City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination was conducted by State Pathologist Sally Anne Collis, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.

The apartment on Achill Road remains preserved for technical examination.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the discovery of the body, and is still being detained at a Garda Station in North Dublin under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

The man is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) at 11am on Thursday.

An Garda Síochána is appealing for anyone who was travelling in the Home Farm Road area of Drumcondra and its’ surroundings between the morning of Tuesday, 2 August, and the evening of Saturday, 6 August, who observed any activity which drew their attention, to come forward.
