Search continues for young boy reported to have fallen into River Boyne in Drogheda

An extensive search operation was launched late on Wednesday night.

A search operation for a young boy reported to have fallen into the River Boyne in Drogheda late on Wednesday night has resumed on Thursday morning.

Gardaí responded to reports that a young boy had fallen into the river at the Bridge of Peace in Drogheda at approximately 10.15pm on Wednesday (3 June).

An extensive search was carried out by Gardaí and Emergency services into the early hours of Thursday morning, but no young male was located. The Irish Coast Guard and volunteers from Drogheda River Rescue and Recovery are also involved in the search.

The search operation has resumed and is set to continue along the river this morning.
