Tragic news.

At least four people have died after a tower crane collapsed on a Seattle street on Saturday evening.

The collapse occurred during ongoing works on a new Google campus in the state of Washington.

By the time police had arrived to the scene, two construction workers who had been working on the crane had passed away.

Two people who were inside their cars had also died.

A four-month-old baby and her mother were brought to hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Six cars were crushed in the incident, and several other people were taken to hospital.

The crane was being dismantled at the time it collapsed.

According to the Seattle Times, the state Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the cause of the accident.

The National Weather Service reported a storm squall with powerful gusting winds moved through the area at the time the crane was being dismantled.
