Mooney remains in hospital.
The PSNI has said it has charged a second man in relation to an alleged assault on Down footballer Caolan Mooney.
The incident occurred in the Merchant’s Quay area of Newry in the early hours of Monday morning.
Another man, aged in his 30s, was also injured during the incident.
The 35-year-old man has been charged with affray, grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 22 January.
A 37-year-old man was also charged in relation to the incident and appeared in court on Tuesday morning.
Mooney had been playing in a match in Fermanagh the day before he received his injuries.
The 26-year-old remains in hospital but posted on social media thanking everyone for their messages of support.
