Thanks to lifestyle brand Home, you can now send someone a turf scented candle for St Patrick’s Day.
One turf candle costs €34.50 with a small, limited edition batch available from 8 March.
Speaking about the candle, Home’s Sinead Bailey Kelly said in a statement: “With this limited-edition fragrance, our vision was to encapsulate the smokey scent of Irish turf, a very unique fragrance that represents the land and its comforting aromas here in Ireland.
“We wanted to recreate the feelings of warmth, and relaxation that the rich aroma of turf creates when burnt in the hearth of the homes. An aroma that will help soothe your soul, calm your mind and ground your body.”
The earthy aroma includes notes of cedarwood, patchouli infused with spices, amber, rose, vetiver, vanilla and moss. Not a sentence you’d often hear in the bog, we’d venture.
Home say the resulting scent is “reminiscent of dusky evenings, smokey aromas rolling in across the fields, a tender embrace, and shared cups of tea gathered around the hearth, the heart of the home and centre of warmth”.
The candle is 400ml in size and has a 50+ hour burn time.
It also comes in a glossy amber glass jar with a black lid.
