Serving member of British Armed Forces arrested in relation to Northern Ireland terrorism

Reports have emerged on Wednesday afternoon that a serving member of the British Armed Forces has been arrested in relation to terrorism offences.

The man, who is 30-years-old, was arrested after a joint investigation conducted by Police Service of Northern Ireland and South West Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit.

While the charges are believed to relate to Northern Ireland, the man was arrested in Somerset in the south west of England.

According to Standard.co.uk, there is no immediate threat to the public but searches are being carried out in a home and wooded area in Devon, which is also in the south west.

The report by the Evening Standard suggests that the charges relate to the preparation of terrorist attacks.
