This is crazy…

Civil rights groups in Oregon, USA are calling for an investigation after a video showed police punching a man on the ground repeatedly.

The footage, shot by Portland, Oregon, TV station KGW shows a number of officers wrestling a man to the ground, pinning his arms behind his back and punching him repeatedly in the head.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Kevin Straw, can be heard shouting, “I’m not resisting” throughout the video.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest happened Monday after Straw repeatedly shouted at officers involved in the search for two missing fishermen.

The sheriff’s office has said that it will review the  officers’ use of force, and promised an additional review from a third party.

Speaking to TIME, David Rogers, head of the American Civil Liberties Union in Oregon, said it wasn’t clear why the police used force on the prone man.

“It looked like they were in pretty complete control, and yet a deputy proceeded to punch this man in the face 14 or 15 times,” Rogers said. “It was incredibly disturbing.”
