Police in California confirmed on Tuesday that they are responding to an active shooter at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, a short distance from San Francisco.

San Bruno Police confirmed that they had responded to an active shooter at 901 Cherry Avenue in San Bruno and urged the public to stay away from the area.

A YouTube employee, Vadim Lavrusik, posted on Twitter to say that he had heard shots and saw people running while at his desk.

Lavrusik said that he was then barricaded inside a room with co-workers before later reporting that he was safe, having been evacuated from the building.

In a statement, Google Communications said that they are coordinating with authorities and would provide official information as it becomes available.
