He pleaded guilty to affray in July

Singer Chris Brown has received his sentence today after pleading guilty to affray over a confrontation at a London nightclub.

The US singer was handed an eight month prison sentence which is suspended for 12 months, meaning Brown will not be going to jail.

The 37-year-old was accused of attacking Abraham Diaw at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, near Oxford Circus, in February 2023.

As per the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Brown and his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, approached Diaw in the club and "struck him twice over the head with a glass bottle".

While the victim attempted to flee the club, they "continued their assault" and the "victim was kicked while he was seated defenceless on the floor".

Diaw was treated for head and knee injuries at St Mary's Hospital.

Co-defendant Akinlolu received four months, also suspended for 12 months, also pleading guilty to affray.

Earlier this year, both men denied accusations of more serious charges, including assault, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, and having an offensive weapon.

These accusations were subsequently dropped.

During his sentencing, the judge told Brown that his "fame, commercial success and professional standing do not entitle you to special treatment. The law applies equally to everyone."
