Sinn Féin confirm their party’s policing spokesman removed a clamp from his car

Homenews

It looks like he was caught red-handed on social media.

In a video obtained by the Sunday Life, Gerry Kelly appears to be kneeling down to remove the orange device from the vehicle's right-hand wheel, before placing it against a nearby wall. A pair of bolt cutters appear to be lying beside the wheel. https://twitter.com/TheSundayLife/status/959899233951387648 In a statement issued on their official website, a Sinn Féin stated that: "Yesterday, Friday 2nd February, Gerry Kelly MLA returned to his car after an early morning gym session to find that his car had been made immobile by a clamp just after 7.20 am." "He removed the clamp from the front wheel. He left the device nearby and drove off to pre-arranged meetings." "His solicitor is dealing with the matter and he will be making no further comment at this time." Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) leader Jim Allister took to Twitter to call on police to investigate, saying that this "audacious taking of the law into his own hands must not go unchallenged. [...] Kelly should resign after this self-serving, law-defying episode." https://twitter.com/JimAllister/status/959898663563784199
