Sinn Féin is the most popular political party in Ireland, according to new poll

The poll also found that overall government approval is up by three points.

Sinn Féin is the most popular political party in Ireland but has still seen a slight dip in popularity, according to a new opinion poll.

The party, lead by Mary Lou McDonald, is on 30%, down from 32% since December, the Sunday Times/Behaviour and Attitudes survey revealed.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael is on 28%, up by one, and Fianna Fáil is unchanged at 22%.

The Green Party is up two points to 5% and Labour is on four points, going down by one.

Social Democrats are up one point, on two points and Solidarity/People Before Profit is down one, on one point.

Independent/others are on eight points, going up by one and Aontú’s ranking remained unchanged at zero points.

The poll also revealed that Taoiseach Micheál Martin closed the gap on McDonald and Leo Varadkar in satisfaction ratings.

Martin’s satisfaction rating rose six points to 49%.

Overall government approval is also up three points to 47%.

The poll was conducted face-to-face from 4 to 18 May. The poll used a representative sample of 914 Irish voters aged 18 years and up.
