Six people shot dead in hospital in Czech Republic

Six people have been confirmed dead after a shooting in the Czech Republic.

Security has been heightened all over the Czech Republic following a shooting at University Hospital in Ostrava.

The identity of the victims have not yet been released, nor has the motive behind the attack.

An arrest has been made, although it is not yet clear whether or not it was the shooter who had been detained by police.

According to a number of reports, the shooting took place at a traumatology clinic in the hospital at approximately 7am local time.

“We are currently strengthening the supervision of selected soft targets across the Czech Republic”, tweeted a Czech Republic Police account.

Andrej Babis, the prime minister has also cancelled his day’s schedule to go to the hospital.

Universities and other businesses in the area have closed down for the day.
