The broadcaster and reporter Colin Brazier both acknowledged their wrongdoing.

Sky News have issued an apology after reporter Colin Brazier went through the luggage of one of the victims of Thursday’s Malaysian Airlines disaster in the Ukraine.

Even as he picks up a toothbrush from a suitcase that had fallen from the wreckage, Brazier admits, “We really shouldn’t be doing this.”

Viewers were appalled and, when the complaints started pouring in, the news channel issued the following apology.

“Today whilst presenting from the site of the MH17 air crash Colin Brazier reflected on the human tragedy of the event and showed audiences the content of one of the victims’ bags,” the statement read.

“Colin immediately recognised that this was inappropriate and said so on air. Both Colin and Sky News apologise profusely for any offence caused.”
