Another spell of freezing weather awaits.

After a bitterly cold weekend and after the weather playing havoc for commuters all over the country on Monday morning, Met Éireann have issued yet another snow-ice warning for Ireland.

The status yellow snow-ice warning has been issued ahead of air temperatures dropping to freezing or below on Monday night and Tuesday morning, with widespread frost and ice on untreated surfaces.

Scattered wintry showers are also expected, with west Ulster, Connacht and west Munster likely to be the worst affected areas.

Issued at 2pm on Monday, the warning comes into effect at 3am on Tuesday and will remain in place until 10am on the same morning.

A status yellow weather advisory warning, meanwhile, which is flagging wet and windy weather, thundery downpours and winds of up to 110 km/h, will come into effect from 6pm on Monday and remain in place until 6am on Tuesday morning.

Safe to say that, whatever happens, it’s going to be a wild night.
