Motorists have been advised to exercise caution.
While storms Eunice, Franklin and Dudley have come and gone, it seems we’re not quite out of the woods just yet.
Met Éireann is forecasting snow and wintry showers for some parts of the country over the next couple of days.
Tuesday and Wednesday’s daytime temperatures are expected to range between 6 and 11 degrees, but that’s set to change come tomorrow evening.
During the daytime on Wednesday, there will be some wintry showers, but by night the mercury will drop to between -2 and 1 degrees in parts as the weather turns “much colder”.
The Irish Meteorological Service has also advised motorists to exercise caution on the roads as sleet and snow may lead to hazardous driving conditions.
The forecast for Wednesday evening reads:
“It will turn much colder early on Wednesday night as rain clears to the east. Showers will follow behind, falling as sleet and snow in places leading to poor driving conditions.
“Chance of isolated thunderstorms as well as hail, with lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees allowing for some frost and icy stretches to develop in mostly moderate southwest winds.”

The wintry conditions will continue on Thursday with highest temperatures expected to be between 3 and 7 degrees, though gusty, westerly winds will bring an “added chill factor”.
Again, motorists are urged to drive with care as “snow showers and icy stretches during the morning will lead to tricky driving conditions”.
Additionally, showers will be heavy, and hail and thunder are possible, especially in the west and north of the country. Frost is expected to develop on Thursday night.
Friday will see the wintry conditions ease, as temperatures are set to be between 7 and 10 degrees, with some patches of rain on the cards.
Looking ahead, the weekend is set to be mostly cloudy with patches of drizzle developing over the country.
