Could it be you?

A lucky punter, who is either from Monaghan town or was passing through on Friday, is €500,000 richer but doesn’t seem to know about it yet.

According to Northern Sound, a winning Euromillions ticket worth €500,000 was sold in McNally’s Filling Station on the Cootehill Road in Monaghan Town on Friday, but has not yet been claimed.

Pearse McNally, proprietor of the filling station, told Northern Sound that the winning ticket was a €6 quick pick purchased in store on Friday, so if you or anyone you know happened to have stopped by, best check the wallet to see if you have a slip of paper that could change your life.

The winner has 90 days in which to claim the winnings and who knows, it could also be the case that the holder of the lucky ticket is just biding their time before claiming the winnings; when you’ve half a million quid coming your way, what’s the rush?

Plenty of time for this after all…
