Spanish police say two armed men are ‘entrenched’ in bar following Barcelona terror attack

Local emergency services are urging people to stay away from the area.

Reports suggest two men are ‘entrenched’ in a local bar.

Following the horrific news that a vehicle ploughed into pedestrians in the crowded Las Ramblas area of Barcelona on Thursday, there are now reports that two armed men are ‘entrenched’ in a nearby bar/restaurant with local police monitoring the situation.

Sky report that Spanish police have confirmed the reports that two armed individuals are ‘holed up’ in the bar, and Catalan newspaper El Periodico also report this to be the case. TV3 report that their location is a Turkish restaurant. There have also been unconfirmed reports of gunfire near La Boqueria market

The official interior ministry twitter account has confirmed that there are dead and injured victims following the vehicle crash incident earlier, which is being treated as terror-related. Local emergency services are urging people to stay away from the area around Plaça Catalunya.
