The second largest shopping centre in Cork is up for sale. If you fancy it, all you need to do is fork out €86 million and the Wilton Shopping Centre can be yours today.
So what will you get for your money?
The sale comprises of €76m for the Shopping Centre and €10m for a mixed-use development site.
Inside, the biggest store in the centre is Penneys with other key retailers being Peter Mark, Euro Giant, Easons, KBC, EBS Ltd, Boots, New Look, Lifestyle Sports and Specsavers.
The shopping centre has a footfall of 5.5 million people each year, but just imagine the epic games of hide and seek you could play if you bought the place.
Notification of Decision to Grant was recently received and plans include a 190-bed hotel, a 14-screen cinema, a public plaza, a two-storey 75,000 sq ft anchor unit along with other retail and office space, and 874-space multi-level carpark among other additional parking provisions.
Fergus O’Farrell of Savills commented: “Wilton Shopping Centre is a dominant retail location with unrivalled foot footfall of over 5.5 million each year.
“The unique combination of accessibility from across the city and suburbs, proximity to the two largest third level institutes and Cork University Hospital, and home to Penney’s only suburban Cork store ensure that Wilton is a sustainably strong retail location with a diverse consumer base supporting the range of retailers within the scheme.
“In addition, the opportunity offers future development potential to create a dominant district centre in an area of proven demand, which will ultimately improve the centre and enhance investors total returns.”
