orange fog warning

It’s going to be foggy out there.

Motorists throughout Ireland will need to take extra care on Thursday morning, with Met Éireann issuing a status orange fog warning for the entire country.

The warning was issued in the early hours of Thursday morning, at 2am, and will remain in effect until 10am, with widespread fog forecast throughout Ireland.

Met Éireann say that the fog will be most dense inland, away from coastal areas, and will lead to poor driving conditions, so if you are going to be on the road, you might want to allow a little extra time to get from A to B.

While fog will begin to clear in the afternoon, it will linger locally in places ahead of a chilly day in most of the country, although it will be slightly milder in southern counties, where temperatures will reach highs of 8 degrees.

Conditions will become cooler again on what is forecast to be a cold and misty night on Thursday, with frost, fog and temperatures as low as -2 degrees.
