The Beast from the East is starting to make its presence felt.

Met Éireann have issued a status red snow-ice warning for the provinces of Munster and Leinster as the Beast from the East sweeps over Ireland.

Having issued a status red snow-ice warning for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath at 5am on Wednesday morning, Met Éireann have extended the warning to include all counties in both provinces.

The warning comes into effect at 4pm on Thursday and warns of “blizzard-like conditions” developing in heavy snow and strong easterly winds on Thursday evening, with the warning remaining in effect until midday on Friday.

A status orange snow-ice warning, meanwhile, has also been issued for the province of Connacht, as well as Cavan and Monaghan. Issued at 11am on Wednesday morning, it will come into effect at 8pm on Thursday and remain in effect until midday on Friday.

Stay safe out there, folks.
