If you step outside tonight and look up you’ll be able to see Mars and Venus

Tony Cuddihy

Quite a sight.

It’s a clear night in Ireland this evening, and if you step outside and look up you’ll be able to see what look like two bright stars around the crescent moon.

They are, in fact, Mars and Venus.

If you look just below the moon you will see Venus (circled below in yellow) – it will be south-east of the moon as you look up.

If you look to the north-west of the moon, you will see Mars (circled below in blue). It will be dimmer than Venus, and while this photo doesn’t do it justice you can’t miss it with the naked eye.

Venus and Mars will only remain visible until 9pm tonight, so go and check them out now.
