The man's mother has travelled to the country to look for him.
31-year-old Stephen Warde from Kinvara in Galway has been reported missing since 1 January 2019.
Warde travelled to Malaysia on his own in November and has not been in contact with his family since New Year's Day.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed (via
RTE News) that they are aware of the situation and are currently providing counselling services to the missing man's family.
They have also confirmed that the man's mother has travelled to Malaysia to look for him.
Online appeals for information about Stephen Warde state that he has been missing in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
Warde is said to have dark brown hair, brown eyes, and is 5 foot 11 in height.
