It’s serious.

As the country braces itself for Storm Diana, which looks set to hit Ireland on Wednesday, Met Éireann has issued another weather warning for Ireland.

The Status Orange wind warning was issued by Met Éireann at 11am on Tuesday and affects Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Clare, Wexford and Galway.

The warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford is valid from 6am on Wednesday until 12pm, while the warning for Clare, Wexford and Galway is valid from 9am on Wednesday until 2pm on the same day.

Coastal flooding will be possible during these times as the severe winds and high seas associated with Storm Diana hit the country.

There will be winds of 65 to 80 km/h and gusts of between 110 to 130 km/h.

Meanwhile, there’s still a Status Yellow wind warning in place for the rest of the country valid from 5am on Wednesday until 4pm on the same day.

This is due to the gale force winds associated with Storm Diana.

The Road Safety Authority has issued the following advice for road users remain safe during Storm Diana:

  • Beware of objects being blown out onto the road. Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch out for falling/fallen debris on the road and vehicles veering across the road.
  • Control of a vehicle may be affected by strong cross winds. High sided vehicles and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to strong winds.
  • Allow extra space between you and vulnerable road users such as cyclists and motorcyclists.
  • Drive with dipped headlights at all times.
