Storm Emma has taken the bread, but there’s one business that isn’t backing down

Let them eat ice cream cake.

Snow-mageddon has created chaos. Bread is being rationed, flights are being cancelled left, right and centre. The stores are closing early from Thursday until Friday, but for some reason, there are a few people sitting around, eating ice cream.

That’s right…

We’re experiencing an event so cold that it’s being called the Beast from the East, but people still are looking for more frozen things?

It’s brilliant, but more importantly, it’s actually happening. An ice cream van has been spotted doing the rounds in Tallaght.

Oddly enough, you might think this would be the last type of food somebody would be looking for in harsh weather conditions, but this isn’t exactly a one-off incident.

During Storm Ophelia, as Dublin’s city centre began to go on lock-down, most of the places that remained open after lunchtime on 27 October were ice cream shops.

It seems like the worst business idea in the world during a major weather event such as a blizzard or hurricane. But sure, if nobody else is working, you’re in with a shot of making a bit of money.

Plus, those cones are probably going to be the closest thing you’ll get to bread over the next few days.
