Supermac’s to open three new outlets, creating 200 jobs

Kate Demolder

All three outlets are located in Cork.

Supermac’s is set to create 200 jobs in Cork this month with the opening of three new outlets, starting with a new outlet in Ballyvolane in the coming weeks.

The other two outlets are set to open on the Bandon Road and Tivoli, an eastern suburb of the city. The new outlet in Ballyvolane will boast a Supermac’s restaurant, a Papa John’s Pizza take-away and a drive-thru feature.

This will bring to 13 the total amount of Supermac’s outlets in the county.

Commenting on the expansion, Supermac’s M.D, Pat McDonagh, said that the group had already undertaken a major recruitment drive in the Cork region.

“We have been delighted with the response to our recruitment drive in Cork for these new openings,” he said.

“We recently held a recruitment fair in the Imperial Hotel in Cork and we were delighted with the number and standard of potential employees that we were able to engage with following on from that. We have career opportunities at all levels and we are looking for managers, store managers, assistant managers and catering assistants.

“We have put structured career paths in place for staff that leads to store manager positions as well as site managers and area managers and we want people that will stay with us and develop with us,” Mr McDonagh said.

The news comes after Supermac’s announced 400 new jobs and the opening of six new outlets in Ireland earlier this year.

The other new outlets that have opened or are set to open this year are in Balbriggan in Dublin, Naas in Kildare (Papa John’s) and Donegal Town, creating another 200 jobs in the process.
