The incident occurred in the last week of 2018.

Speaking to JOE, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that Gardaí are investigating an incident of vandalism at a Synagogue in Dublin.

Gardaí from Terenure are investigating an alleged criminal damage incident that occurred at a synagogue on the Rathfarnham Road in Terenure, Dublin 6 on Saturday 29 December 2018.

So far, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident. Investigations are ongoing.

According to reports on social media, the vandalism included swastika graffiti painted on the outer wall of the building.

The synagogue has been the target of anti-semitic graffiti before, and in 2005 a judge sentenced a man for four consecutive five-month sentences for spray-painting a swastika on the synagogue.

The synagogue in the south Dublin suburb has been there since 1952.

It is one of only three synagogues in Ireland — all of which are based in Dublin.
