Taxi stolen at knifepoint in Louth

The incident took place in the early hours of Friday morning.

Gardaí in County Louth are investigating the unlawful taking of a taxi on Friday morning, 14 December.

The incident took place at approximately 12.45am in the Drogheda area when a taxi driver was transporting two male passengers along the Termonfeckin Road.

One of the males, allegedly armed with a knife, demanded cash and the taxi driver’s phone before making him exit the vehicle.

The two men then left the scene in the stolen car.

No injuries were sustained in the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who was in the Termonfeckin Road area between midnight and 1am on Friday morning to contact them in Drogheda on 041 98 74200 or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Investigations are ongoing.
